new zealand: day 1

i just arrived in christchurch last night. there's nothing to do last night than going to the motel and have a good rest. i'm just gonna hang around the south island only. i'm staying here for 9 days so there will be 9 posts. stay tuned! so today's the first day in new zealand. early in the morning, i took a train from christchurch to greymouth. all aboard! it's a scenic train. and yes, the scenery was wonderful. it was a five hour journey and there were lots of things i saw like graffiti, sheeps, cows, mountains, rivers, an awesome machine to water the crops and a man waving hands to us. haha. i also did my homework in the train. i did the calcium carbonate report. from greymouth, my dad rent a car and will drive until the very last day. from greymouth, my dad drove to our first stop, hokitika. my mom bought some jade there. then, the journey continues. i reached franz josef at night and bought some food at the nearby supermarket. i slept there for a night to have much energy to climb the glacier tomorrow.
