today i went to the new zealand science week at the national science centre. some awesome people from new zealand were there to give a talk about science especially in the technology field. first of all, professor mark billinghurst talk about turning science fiction movies come to reality. in his presentation, he showed us that he had successfully did a some sort of hologram like star wars but only with the help of some special glasses. it's called augmented reality. it was so cool. everybody in the auditorium was amazed. he said his next project was to make hologran like tony stark's house in ironman. next, there was a show by a band of robots, the trons. they can play guitar, piano, drum and bass. the inventor said all the stuffs were from junkyard and the computer he used to program the robots was a big 1980s computer, but still can amaze people of the 21st century. after that, i went upstairs to the actroid showroom which was not a part of the nz science week. actroid means actor + android. android is a humanoid robot with human-like appearance. asimo is not an android coz it looks like a robot. actroid is from japan, malaysia rent it for a couple of months. it has been used as actors and news reporter in japan. surprisingly, the movements of the robot is not powered by electricity but pneumatics, air compression. that's all for today. sorry for the dark pictures. really low iso.
